The Province of Newfoundland and Labrador joins the confederation 31 Mars, 1949. Newfoundland and Labrador is located on Canada` Atlantic coast and is ranks 10th in total land area. The province is ranks 9th in population with almost 0.5 million residents in 2008 and that most of them are living in Island Newfoundland of the province and in the large cities. The Capital City is St. John's. Largest Cities: St. John’s, Mt. Pearl, Comer Brook, Conception Bay South and Grand Falls-Windsor. The official languages in Newfoundland and Labrador are English. Newfoundland and Labrador has a very mix of ethnicity and race; Canadian 38,0%, English 39,4%, Irish 19,7, and 2,9% a mixed background. Newfoundland and Labrador is bordered Atlantic Ocean to the north, east and south, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia to the west. On Newfoundland and Labrador is commercial fishing the largest industry after ground fish, cud, flounder, redfish, capelin, shrimp and crab. Mining is the second largest industry with iron ore as the largest follow by gold, asbestos, limestone, gypsum, nickel, copper and cobalt. Other important industry’s is the forestry industry for timber, wood, lumber, wood pulp and paper products, offshore oil and gas, eclectic power and hydroelectric. The agriculture branch is dominated by poultry, eggs, hogs, cattle and daily products. Tourism is like every province in Canada a big economic sector with culture and historical heritage and outdoor activities such as hunting, camping, hiking, river and coast fishing.
