It is located in the southern region of the United States of America. Capital City: Montgomery. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida to the south, and Mississippi to the west. Alabama is ranks 30th in total land area and ranks second in the size of its inland waterways. The state ranks 23rd in population with almost 4.6 million residents in 2006. Largest Cities: Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Dothan, Decatur, Auburn, Gadsden. Like many other Southern State, Alabama was suffered very hard from the American Civil War until World War II in the following years after the war. Alabama is an Industrial and a farmer state. The biggest is Alabama is the home to the largest industrial growth corridor in the nation, including the surrounding states of Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Tennessee, Alabama ranks 2nd after Detroit in automobile manufactory, and it’s growing. Alabama will in 2009 surpass Detroit and become the largest builder of automobiles in North America. Other industrial outputs are paper, lumber, wood products, iron, steel, mining (coal) plastic products. The new jobs have come from aerospace and electronic products and the biggest area is Huntsville with NASA, US Army Missile Command, George C Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal. The farmer is products cotton, peaches, soybeans, milk, vegetable, sorghum, corn, peanuts, and cattle’s.
