Free fonts are never wrong! Especially if they are really nice and also new. Sometimes bloggers are lying when they say that the fonts are new, but I could not recognize any of the 40 fonts listed in instantShift – and I usually have pretty good track of free fonts.

free-fronts

A lot of fonts on the list were really refreshing, actually. Chunk was the first that I stuck to. It is similar to Rockwell, but feels a little softer. Although Carto Gothic Std was really good, and even if use area is niche so download I Juicy Hunt.

If you’ve followed my blog a while, you know that I usually come back to free fonts on a regular basis. Therefore there is a lot to find in my archives, if you are interested in more. Here you will find for example the best sites for free fonts and a bunch of single links in the free fonts. This nice article come from TkJ.

gimp

GIMP is the open source – world’s answer to Photoshop. It is a complex image manipulation program full of functions and tools, and it is also completely free. You can download it for both Windows and Linux. The latest version is 2.6.6, and it contains many news.

I find an article of Six Revisions, which lists 10 websites with schools, guides and other articles with has to do with GIMP. Do you want to learn to master this great program in image editing, is this really good websites to begin with. If you think that GIMP is a bit too complex for your taste, are there a lot of other free image-editing programs. Two of my favorites are Paint.NET and Photoscape. They are both easy to use, have simple and logical interface and is also free.

GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program and was originally developed for Linux / Unix. It has however since several years been closed for Windows. GIMP is an enormously complex tools, and by that I mean that the learning threshold is relatively high, but above all that the program contains many and very good functions. You can very well compare GIMP with Photoshop.

That who probably is the most unaccustomed with GIMP is that the interface is different from the other of Windows programs, because it is was closed from Unix. But it is really no major differences, and once you come over the threshold, it is no problem. Once you start using GIMP, you will realize that it is an excellent tool for imaging, image editing and photo retouching. This article did found I in TkJ.

drupal

Drupal is a free publication system that is developing open source. It is a complete CMS – Content Management System, used to build and maintain websites. In a way you can compare it with WordPress, even if WordPress is mainly used for blogs (of course can you use it to ‘normal’ web sites as well).

If the man who signed is the right snowbound on WordPress, it is easy to overlook Drupal. But the fact is that there is a very wide range of users to it, and it developed all the time. And it also creates new beautiful themes that you can use to your website. Tripwire magazine, has in a blog entry list of 200 free themes for Drupal. These can you download and use as you want on your Drupal-based web site.

BSA ( Business Software Alliance) has in a study find that 41% of the software to a PC is pirated (2008). This is an increase from 2007 by 4 procent and a likely reason is that both India and China are beginning to have higher standards and more computers. BSA has also tried to put a figure on the estimated losses that publishers can not take part – and here we talk about 53 billion dollars! Bear in mind that this applies only if each of the pirated software had been purchased. and guess how many individuals who kindly spend 800 dollar on for example Adobe Photoshop. Shall we guess on a near-zero?

pirates3And I want to emphasize that I not in any way calls for pirated Photoshop. I am not negative to BSA figures. I personally think we should take this report / statement with a big fist of salt, then it certainly true to some extent, but its very exaggerated. The greatest loss is in USA with 20% of software is pirated, and a loss of around 9 billion dollars. No small amount, but obviously a very vague calculation.

It was that I – and most others – thought. The figures that 41% of the software to a PC is pirated (2008) was invented by the BSA. There were some newspapers that asked them from where they got their statistics, now they have admitted that they had no figures to rely on.

In any case I often use tools on the Internet for most things I agree on with the websites or blogs, maybe not everything but a great deal.

I found Resize Your Image of a coincidence on ZtrixQ and it is a web tool that you immediately add to their favorites.

With Resize your image are you doing virtually nothing other than just resize your images. Well, what is so special with it? There are certainly hundreds better than this one! I agree with that, but how many programs, take it about 7 seconds to get the clamp on.

With Resize Your Image you change the size of your images in 3 easy steps.

1. Upload Image – Select the image you want to change! Maybe you have a picture on your computer, or you have found a nice picture on the Internet, but the picture is far too large. Select browse and select the image you want to upload. Some of the file formats supported are jpg, gif, png, tiff and more.

2. Change the size – Use the arrows to change the size of your image. Click and drag from right to left, top-down. You can also rotate the image 90 degrees, or choose to zoom in or out. Or write you simply put whatever size you want in the Width and Height keys.

3. Save Image – When you’re done with your settings, you simply click on the orange button – resize your image and you get to the download page click on the generated link and download your picture.

I found a list of 300 free programs for virtually all purposes by winAddons, which is a tremendous resource for anyone who wants to find good useful software to install on their computers. Of course, it would be too huge to install any programs, although, anything is possible, but you can certainly find some good programs you can use this.

The list is divided into different categories such as Office, Internet, Security, Networking, Pictures, plus a lot of other categories, and I must say I found at a lot of pearls which I going to try out. A lot of programs in the list do I already use or have tested earlier.

In a way, it is a bit unfortunate that we can not use all the programs, but may sometimes try to forward to find the best program for their purpose, and sometimes it may be quite difficult. But a good idea is to search for information on the Internet or on various forums to form an opinion on what other people think.

For those of you who want to look at the entire list can do this in winAddons and hope you find any program that you can have good use of! I selected a few programs from a few categories:

Foxit PDF Reader – PDF reader (Office)

Maxthon – Browser (Internet)

Avast Home Free – Antivirus (Security)

JAlbum – create web photo album (Pictures)

TaskSwitchXP – Alt-Tab tool (System Tools)

This was just a small selection of the list containing 300 free programs to download. winAddons is a site we on Sundream Estate usually visit on a regular basis to keep watch if new programs turns up, just a tip for you who may also want to keep track ..
