Malaga Airport and Car Rental Costa del Sol

1. Malaga International Airport.
Malaga International Airport is the biggest airport for the entire Costa del Sol in Spain. It is around 8 kilometres south west of Malaga city. You can easy reach Malaga Airport by using the main cost road N 340 which links up with the west and the A7 / E 15 motorway and the toll road that take you to Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona, Sotogrande, Gibraltar and Cadiz and to the east to Malaga, Nerja, Granada and Sierra Nevada.
You will be found it well signed along the way to guide you to airport and the terminal you will need.

Malaga Airport has three terminals; the largest one is Terminal 2 and has two floors with separate entrances from the street. The lowest floor is only for arrivals and the second floor for departures. The terminal has 65 check-in desks, 24 boarding gates, 14 walkways and 8 baggage pick-up belts. The third floor is a shopping area with many tax-free shops, bars, restaurants and many more.

The terminal 1 at Malaga Airport is connected to Terminal 2 and it is only for arrivals and it has information desk and some shops.

There is also a cargo terminal at Malaga Airport which has four cold storage rooms, an area for hazardous materials, areas for live animals and vaults for valuables. This unit has 16 docking bays for unloading vehicles.

2. Car Rental at Malaga airport.
Malaga airport is the base for many of the established cars hire company on Costa del Sol, over 90 % of all pick-ups and deliveries are done at Malaga Airport. You will find local companies as well as all the large international car hires companies that are well known around the world. They can offer you all types of car; from small cheap cars to all the way up to luxury limousine with private chauffeur.

3. Means of Communication with Train and Bus.
Getting around Malaga or other surrounding areas is very simple.
Outside Terminal 1 and 2, across the street is the train station. There are the local trains to Malaga and Fuengirola.
Taxis are another great way to get around and there are taxis stationed outside the arrival and departure terminals.
Tourist shuttle buses can also be chosen and they are located in the same areas as the taxis, outside the arrival and departure Terminals.
Bus service is available to all towns along the Costa del Sol, and does operate on a daily basis from both terminals.
