Malaga Airport Trains only run to East Malaga and to the west of Fuengirola. There are plans for the line to be extended to Estepona, with stops at Marbella, Puerto Banus etc. However, these additions will not be available until 2012.

First train 07:01 then every 15 and 45 minutes past the hour

Malaga Airport Trains to Fuengirola City:
First train 05:58 then every 13 and 45 minutes past the hour

Malaga Airport Bus.
Another inexpensive way to travel is with the Malaga Airport bus. It is the cheapest transport option. Directions to Malaga Airport Bus: Exit the main arrivals hall takes the right hand doors. Once outside, turn right and walk approx 50 meters, along the side to the terminal Bus Stop. However, if you have a tight time schedule, do not rely on the bus airport to get you there on time. Some of the most common destinations and their schedules are as follows:

Keep in mind that when you travel on the bus, you will sometimes have to make a few stops on the way to your destination, even if you only go 1 hour away. For example, to get to Nueva Andalucía, 1km from Puerto Banus, you will need to change bus three times!
Bus Ticket.
However, if you are staying fairly near to the Bus Terminal in Marbella, there are direct Malaga Airport Buses that take 45 minutes and costs under 5 euros. If you take the bus at Malaga Airport you will pay the driver, but if you travel from Marbella Bus Terminal you have to buy a ticket.
Bus Stops.
Buses now can take you to many other places in the Costa del Sol regions like e.g. Puerto Banus, Plaza De Los Naranjos (Orange Square), Marbella Town, San Pedro, La Canada Shopping centre and Elviria. All of these places can be seen and visited in between Malaga and Marbella.
