Fuengirola Town



Fuengirola is located on the coast, the smallest community in whole Spain, between Calahonda and Benalmadena at 21 km from Malaga International Airport. It is one of the most popular family resort and home-grown tourist resorts on the Costa del Sol. Fuengirola is a mix of all European nationalities and is ideal for families and very popular particularly with Spanish nationals, and many of them have summer apartments here.

Paseo Maritimo.
Fuengirola is most famous for its almost seven kilometres beautiful promenade; Paseo Maritimo with a new wider beach promenade with plenty of palm trees and statues. It is one of the longest in Spain and you over looking the sandy beaches which are well kept and clean; full with colourful flower bed’s and bench seating. It has special areas designated for Windsurfing, beach volleyball, other water and beach sports.

Chiringuitos on Paseo Maritimo.
Paseo Maritimo has an infinite variety of bars, restaurants and chiringuitos (a Spanish fish bar/restaurant) along the way and is flanked by high-rise hotels and residential blocks of apartments with magnificent views of the Mediterranean. Fuengirola sea front is many tourists and local families’ favourite place. The beaches from Torreblanca in east and all the way up to the Castle in west hold the European blue flag.

Fuengirola Marina.
Fuengirola Marina is the central location at Paseo Maritimo and is divided into two sections, the old and the new. Fuengirola’s old marina still used by the Spanish fisherman and where you can enjoy seeing the fishing boats going out to sea. The new marina is home to some impressive yachts and leisure craft equipped with a full range of facilities and accommodate up to 226 berths with lengths from 8 to 20 metres. The marinas central location has an excellent selection of bars, good restaurants & other entertainment.

Gastronomy in Fuengirola.
Fuengirola is a gastronomic town. There are thousands of small lovely local bars, snacks bars, tapas places, fast food, Spanish bodegas and restaurants everywhere in Fuengirola You will find a huge range of variety from the best traditional Andalusia cuisine as sardines on spit, grill fish and seafood to the best international food you can imagine.
The best area for restaurants is fish-alley, (Restaurant Street) between La Plaza de Constitucion and Paseo Maritimo, with a fantastic mix of traditional Spanish and international food as the top-class Restaurant El Jardin, international cuisine ranging from Sweden to Thai. Moocher’s Jazz restaurant. Restaurant Aroma, a classic five-star English kitchen.

The night life in Fuengirola.
Fuengirola has a lot of great places. Around the square Plaza Constitucion in the centre, you will find many English and Irish pubs, traditional Spanish bars and discotheques. Along the Paseo Maritimo Street, around Hotel Pir, you can find the best of the night life. Start the night at one of the many terrace bars, London Pub, Bogart’s, Old Town or visit same of the small rock/music bars type Castaways back London Pub. Later at night you can choose between many discotheques and night clubs. The London underground, Tramps Bar, Heaven’s Gate, Spanish Arte, DV8, Coyote and many more, the night is young and they are open all night until early morning.

Fuengirola and Shopping.
Fuengirola has a lot to offer if you want to go shopping. The main area is the streets around the square Plaza Constitucion in the centre. There are plenty of boutiques and shops to visit. Fuengirola has the new Parque Miramar shopping centre, close to the Castle on the west side of Fuengirola. Miramar has over 140 shops and can offer you everything you need. Don’t miss this place. Under Hotel Pir will you find a large bazaar market for everything in leather (you must haggle).

Fuengirola Market.
Every Tuesday in the Feria ground (Recinto ferial) is Fuengirola's local market, is the largest along the coast. The stalls sell the Andalusia pottery rugs, leather and handicrafts. If you are a lover of dried fruits and nuts, olives, fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers then the weekly market are the places to be. You won't find it cheaper anywhere else. On Saturday morning (at the same place) it is packed with bargains - anything from second hand clothing to antique maps as well as new items such as table cloths and linens at bargain prices.

Family Fun in Fuengirola.
Fuengirola has many activities for the whole family. Aqua park, a huge leisure and enjoyment water land. Fuengirola Zoo has a lot of the animals. Mijas Hipodromo (the house racecourse) and a lots of sea sports (diving, sea-safari, dolphin tour, boat-parachute). In Fuengirola area you have “Mijas Golf Valley”, with many golf courses to choose between. If you want to take it little slower, there is house-drawn, the small tourist train, visit the castle with a small museum inside or visit the new cultural centre in the feria ground. Why not go and have a fantastic evening at the five-star Torrequebrada Hotel and Casino with the Sala Fortuna Night Club with a Flamenco and International Show.
