Benahavis.

Benahavis is a beautiful mountain village. A historically Moorish village, full with ruins and stones. Only 7 km inland. You take the road from San Pedro, of the Coast between Marbella and Estepona and drive up in the mountain road, into the village which offers you a panoramic and breathtaking view of the whole Coast.
Nestled in the mountains, 500 metres above sea level, this charming, white village of Benahavis is lying between the Sierra de Palmerita and Sierra Bermeja and crossed by three rivers. There is a profusion of pines, chestnuts and corn oaks, surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation.

The village has become very popular -. It has several new developments which are popping up all the time. In spite of this, the village is remained remarkably unspoiled, with the winding narrow streets with huge parking problem, typical in the Pueblos Blancos (white villages) in Andalucia. The other side of town nestling nearby the old quarter consists of white washed houses and narrow winding roads, has been managed to maintain its quaint village feel.

Benahavis is known for tree things. Their fabulous gastronomy food, the golf courses and for the beautiful area Las Angosturas.

Gastronomy.

It has over 20 top-class restaurants, the highest concentration of high class restaurants in Marbella region and it draws visitors by the thousand who comes simply to savour the cuisine, it has also a multitude of Spanish tapas bars of excellent quality should a light snack be preferred. Prices are depended on witch restaurant you eat at, but it will always be good value for money.

Monte Mayor Golf Course.

Set in the mountains of Benahavis, Monte Mayor golf course is one of the most spectacular golf courses on the Costa del Sol with cascading waterfalls and the most superb views you will find in any location. The quality of greens and the natural beauty of the surroundings will make your round of golf unforgettable. Originally considered was a golf course to play perhaps only once at. This opinion has changed over the years, many golfers enjoying the challenge time and time again. It is a par 71, length 5345 meters golf course.

Las Angosturas.

Benahavis is one of the most mountainous areas on the western end of the Costa del Sol. The municipality extends to 14,575 hectares with more than seventy percent of this area being officially classified as of environmental interest. It has recently been declared a Monument of Natural Interest, having a great variety of animal and vegetable wealth.

 One of the most beautiful parts of the area is Las Angosturas, rich in wildlife and vegetation and ideal for rural tourism, adventurous riding, trekking and mountain bike cycling right through the year.

 Among the more common animals and birds to be seen here are rabbits, partridges and other bird species. One may also see, with luck, a rare deer species called the Moflón del Atlas in Benahavis, the only place outside Africa where this animal lives wild. Other animals here include the deer, fox, genet and mountain goat. The mountain landscape is also a perfect habitat for various species of birds of prey.

The region is heavily wooded, with plenty of oaks, chestnut trees, pines, cork trees and arbutus, along with the typical Mediterranean herbs like rock rose, thyme and rosemary.
