Nature Parks in South of Spain

The nature parks in Spain are fantastic. It’s a country that can offer you many different options to choose from. In the south there are the long and beautiful sandy beaches. The north offers you great cliffs and fjords. Inland has many nature parks full of wild animals and a fantastic flora. The Spanish government have work very hard to save a lot of land from the tourist boom and make some great National Parks. Let’s look at some of them and the country around them. I have chosen a couple of the best in the south Spain and also in the Tenerife Islands. We recommend everybody to see and explore the real Spanish nature side.

Almeria

Almeria has Andalusia largest costal nature park, here you find Cabo de Gata with jagged cliffs together with small sandy beaches and fantastic underwater life and birds. The major attraction is underwater diving. In the Inland of Almeria, do you have The Sierra de Maria-Los Velez Nature Park.

Cadiz

Cadiz on Costa de la Luz has both inland nature Parks and coastal reserve Parks. The Sierra de Grazalema was Andalusia’s first Nature Park which is well known for the flora and fauna e.g. six different types of eagle. The region has some interesting archaeological places. Do not miss Los Alcornales wood Park. The Barbate Nature Park is Andalusia’s second largest costal reserve with fantastic underwater life.

Granada

Sierra Nevada in Granada is not only known for the skiing. It is a Nature Park also with over 2,000 different floras catalogued, animals like wildcats, badgers etc. It offers you forest of pine, holm oaks, and gall oaks. It is a fantastic area to walking around.

Huelva

Huelva has The Parque Nacional de Doñana and is one of the greatest National Parks in Spain with the delta around the big river Guadalquivir. A paradise for bird lover’s, flamingos, geese and ducks. The cork oak forest with grey herons, eagle, falcons and all kind of animal. Don’t forget to visit the Sierra Aracena mountain, a huge area of 184,000 hectares and La Gruta de las Maravillas.

Malaga

Malaga also has natural Parks. On the north side to Ronda you have the nature Park Sierra de las Nieves with a rich variety of flora and fauna. 30 kilometres north of Malaga in Antequera is a nature Park reserve El Torcal with fantastic stunning limestone formations.

Tenerife

Tenerife is a volcano Island with many high volcanos. Many of them are in the Nature Park El Teide. The Park has many high volcanos’ mountains and one of them is Spain’s highest mountain. It’s a huge area to explore and offer you fantastic views and same rare animals.
