Malaga International Airport is situated between Malaga town and the village Torremolinos, who is the port to Costa del Sol. It is a pity that not more people take time to teach the new Malaga Town, who is bidding for the title of 2016 European Capital of Culture and the new criuser port, who has wide range of archeology, history, art, culture and charming atmosphere with shops, restaurants and bars.

The castle Castillo de Gibralfaro

If you want to know the town, then I recommend you to first drive up to the old and huge Arabic Castle “Castillo de Gibralfaro” situated on the hill and surrounded by palms trees just over the centre, but its note much of the castle left inside the walls. For them who want to see a how an Arabic medieval castle look like, is there no more beautiful place then Alhambra in Granada. However have you a fantastic view over Malaga; the bullfight arena, harbor, beaches, mountains, and the town. Malaga old history

Many people like to go in the small and charming streets in the old town with the small bookshops, antic shop, boutiques, tapas bars and all the other small picturesque shops on the way to Calle Granada there you can visit the famous Picasso Museum. Clouse to the museum is Plaza de La Merced; there Picasso was born and today is the house a museum. This market is always full with pigeons with was one of the first thing he drew.

Malaga Cathedral La Manquita

Don’t forget to do a visit in the Cathedral, to go in a catholic cathedral is like to come in to a other world – the calm, coolness, silence, and the serious is unbelievable contrast to the noise outside. Malaga cathedral is little special because one of the tower never has been finished. That’s way is called La Manquita, “the small one-armed”. But the façade is beautiful. It’s a pity that the buildings around the Cathedral is placed so near so you hardly can appreciated there magnitude. Opposite the main door is the elegant Plaza del Obispo, where you can take a pause and admire the Cathedral’s lovely adornments.

Malaga Botanical Garden

Passing the Cathedral and cross the main street, and there is the Botanical Garden whish has been transformed during the last five year to a new tropical garden in the middle of city and all the way down to Malaga port.
Malaga town have demolish old buildings in the port, so today can you from the port see both the Cathedral and Gibralfaro. If you take to the left in the port can you walking along on the mils long Paseo Maritimo (Malaga’s beach promenade) lined with the new docks for the luxury ocean liners like Queen Mary II and Queen Victoria, Spanish bars, cafés and restaurants.

Paseo Maritimo, Benalmadena Costa, Puerto Marina.

Every coast town has there own Paseo Maritimo, a beach promenade. I can recommend Torremolinos La Carihuela, east of Torremolinos, all the way to Benalmadena Costa. In the middle between these beaches is Benalmadena Stunning Puerto Marina, a harbor for pleasure boats, build in mix of Indian, Arabic and Andalucia stile and a combination of commercial, restaurants, bar, and private luxury apartments on small island in the middle of the harbor. In day times is the marina full with walking tourist and in the night comes all the young people to all the nightclubs, discotheques and piano bars. Little in the same stile as Puerto Banus in Marbella, but not so luxury and definitely smaller and more intimate.

Torremolinos

La Carihuela is the old part of Torremolinos, with lower houses and glorious spirit.
Both on the Paseo Maritimo and on the sandy beaches are there a lot of restaurants and chiringuitos (Spanish beachside bars and restaurants) with specialty grilled fish, seafood, paella and salads.
The difference between Torremolinos centre Paseo Maritimo`s, Playamar and El Bajondillo and La Carihuela is there is no street directly along the beach, so you don’t have any traffic around you. In the summer nights is the Paseo Maritimo full with young people on the bars and discotheques.

El Torcal in Antequera, Finca de La Concepciòn

Them who like enjoyment in the country must visit the unique place El Torcal in Antequera, a half hour driving from Malaga. Two hundred million years erosion have form this rocks into fabulous shapes, some resembling Gothic castles, other mythological beasts, some taking on human form with monstrous noses and cruel teeth. Its fascinated experience to walk around cliffs and the same time have a stunning view down over the country.

For children families it’s a lot to do. Aqua Park in Torremolinos is a huge water park with attractions for all age’s. In Crocodile Park, next to Aqua Park can you see big dangerous crocodile’s and young one’s who have just coming out of there egg. All children who want can get hold one crocodile kids.

In Benalmadena Costa is Selwo Marina, a marina full with penguins, sea lions, and other water animals, and a wonderful dolphin show. Benalmadena has also a large Tivoli World with lots of attractions. One of them is the Telecabina or cable car who take you up to the top of the highest mountain on the Coast with has a out standing view over the whole Mediterranean and over to Africa.

Plaza Mayor Leisure, cinema and shopping centre

Between Malaga and Torremolinos, next to Malaga International airport is Plaza Mayor Leisure, cinema and shopping centre, a fantastic place where you can find something for everyone, including a multiplex cinema with 20 screens. Many nightclubs, discos, enormous range of bars, cafes, tapas, restaurants, totally over 50. A big bowling and entertainment centre. A large, Health & Fitness Gym and over 25 shops, including some outlets shops.
